FUT Chemistry Explained: How Chemistry Works in EA FC 25

Chemistry determines how well your players perform together in FUT. Get it right and your team plays fluidly. Get it wrong and you will notice the difference. This guide explains how chemistry works in EA FC 25 and how to maximise it.

How Chemistry Works in EA FC 25

EA FC 25 uses a **simplified chemistry system** compared to older FIFA titles. Each player has a chemistry rating from 0 to 3. The team's total chemistry is the sum of all individual player chemistry ratings.

**What Chemistry Does** Chemistry boosts player attributes. A player on 3 chemistry plays noticeably better than the same player on 0 chemistry. Shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, and physical stats all improve with higher chemistry.

Three Ways to Build Chemistry

**Nation Links** Players from the same country get chemistry regardless of their club or league. This is the easiest way to build chemistry in hybrid squads.

**League Links** Players in the same league link together. Building a single-league squad guarantees full chemistry as long as positions are correct.

**Club Links** Players from the same club provide chemistry. Useful for filling specific positions without breaking links to surrounding players.

Position Chemistry

Each player has a primary position and can play in related positions with reduced chemistry.

**Full Chemistry (3)** Player is in their primary position or a very similar position (e.g. ST to CF, LM to LW).

**Partial Chemistry (2)** Player is in a related position but not their primary (e.g. CAM to CM, LB to LWB).

**Reduced Chemistry (1 or 0)** Player is out of position (e.g. CB to CDM, ST to CM). Still usable but loses attribute boosts.

**Position Modifiers** Position modifiers allow you to change a player's position permanently. This can unlock full chemistry. For example, a RM can be converted to RW, which may then link better to surrounding players.

Icons, Heroes, and Special Cards

**Icons** Icons link to ALL players from their nation regardless of league or club. They also link to ALL players from their league during their active career. Icons are chemistry bridges that allow impossible hybrids.

**Heroes** Heroes link to ALL players from their league and nation. They are cheaper than icons and work similarly for specific leagues.

**Special Position Cards** Some promo cards have unique positions (e.g. a defender with a CM position). These can unlock chemistry that would otherwise be impossible.

Building Hybrid Squads

Hybrid squads use players from multiple leagues and nations. The key is finding positions where links overlap.

**Strong Link Strategy** Place players from the same club and nation next to each other. They provide double chemistry and are the foundation of hybrids.

**Triangle Links** Three players from the same nation but different leagues form a chemistry triangle. Add an icon to the mix and you can link almost anything.

**Symmetry Method** Build one side of your squad (e.g. left wing, left back, left CM) from one league. Build the other side from a different league. Use icons or strong links in the centre to tie it together.

Common Chemistry Mistakes

**Ignoring Manager League and Nation** Your manager provides one chemistry point if they match either the league or nation of most of your squad. Always select a manager that fits.

**Using Position Modifiers Too Early** Before buying a position modifier, check if a different player naturally plays in that position. It may be cheaper to buy the correct player than modify an existing one.

**Forcing Players into Your Squad** If a player breaks chemistry and you cannot fix it with links, consider replacing them. Losing 2-3 chemistry on multiple players to fit one player in rarely works.

**Not Testing In-Game** Sometimes a player with 2 chemistry plays better than a higher-rated player with 3 chemistry due to playstyle and personal preference. Test before committing coins.

Loyalty Bonus

Players earn +1 chemistry after playing 10 games for your club or being packed by you. This is called loyalty.

**How to Use Loyalty** If you are one chemistry point short, play 10 games with the player. This can solve chemistry problems without buying new players. Friendlies count, so you can earn loyalty without affecting your record.
